Campaign Summary
In which our heroes meet up, after rescuing a Lunar citizen from a Birini press-gang. Impressed by the ability and public spirit, our heroes are hired by the Satrapal government to investigate the kidnapping of an Irripi Ontor scholar with a mysterious past. Despite numerous attempts to scare them away from the investigation, the scholar, Lukervo, is eventually rescued from captivity at the hands of the villainous Mitoseveth - who escapes to fight another day...
In which our heroes are hired to investigate strange goings-on in the city of Dendeno, at the very edge of Karasali territory. The act of actually getting there proves to be more difficult than anticipated, with disruption and delay piling up one after the other, culminating in a raid by Char-Un bandits, and then our heroes being trailed by an unseen foe...
In which the unseen foe materialises, in a full-on assault on the heroes' river barge as it travels up the Poralistor River to Dendeno. It turns out that he believes them to be someone else entirely, and that his real targets were already wiped out by the Char-Un bandits. Oops. Our heroes reach Dendeno and spend some time at a merchant fair, where traders from Karasal, Pelanda and Carmania meet to do business.
In which our heroes meet Felix 'Lucky' Thraxus, an exiled nobleman who soon joins with them to investigate the recently arrived Dara Happan merchant Togaravu. He and his associates, it seems, are consorting with demons, as part of their plot to... well, do something that's not very nice, probably. Medba gets to show off her demon-controlling powers, as Erskine finds interesting ways to muck up a cellar...
One of Togaravu's colleagues breaks ranks to reveal the dastardly plot: the merchants intend to heroquest to prove an identity between Lokarnos and the local merchant deity, Liara, so they can mint their own gold Wheels. Which doesn't sound so bad, except that nobody told them about the demonic part... is the gold-finding heroquest just a cover for something more sinister? Well, yes, it is. Our heroes disrupt the quest before it can even get started. Togaravu is skewered through the neck with an arrow, and his soul is sucked down to meet his master in the Underworld, while his demonic associate is forced to flee. Our heroes return to Joranit in triumph...
Our heroes return to Joranit, re-establishing their connections with the city. Felix buys a villa, and holds a very succesful house-warming party. Our heroes next undertake a ceremony at the Temple of Sedenya to bind them all together as a Hero Band. The Black Moon spirit Vorkoth agrees to become their Otherworld guardian, but they also find a new spirit ally in the form of Rigwelter. But, it seems, events continue to move on elsewhere, as someone breaks into the Irripi Ontor temple (getting past their own guardian daimone...) to dig up information on Lukervo, the missing scholar from episode #1. So it looks as if it will be necessary to find Mitoseveth, after all...
In which our heroes, now the heroband of the Ruby Moon-Seekers, follow the trail to Mitoseveth. He turns out to be an ally of wealthy Dara Happan merchant Verlanus, member of a political faction that opposes the reforms of the Lunar Way, and seeks to re-instate ancient Solar worship and government in the Empire. SemParvi and Carnak break into Verlanus' home looking for clues, while Medba and Erskine infiltrate a party being held by Lord Murhardavu, leader of the Dara Happan community. It seems that Mitoseveth and Verlanus are members of their own hero band, who intend to disrupt a key Lunar heroquest to strengthen the Dara Happan hold over the city...
In which the Ruby Moon Seekers learn more about the heroquest, and
decide
to enter it for themselves, providing vital reinforcement to the Dara
Happans'
foes. A trip through the Hospital of Deezola on the surface of the moon
leads
them to the ancient city of Verapur, where they take part in the myth,
thoroughly
defeating their foes. This triumph brings our heroes to real public
attention
for the first time (doubtless helped by SemParvi's oratorical skills),
and
may perhaps mark their first true step on the path to Lunar
Immortality.
Somewhere back in the mundane world, Mitoseveth and his friends awake
to
find themselves injured, but still alive... and doutbless looking for
revenge!
As summer comes to Joranit, our heroes are invited to the opening
night of a traditional Pelandan costume play. As the play ends, an
attempt is made on the life of a noble Carmanian merchant in the
audience. The Ruby Moon Seekers save the merchant, but soon discover
that the would-be assassin is under the sway of evil magic, and
entirely unaware of what she has done. As the heroes struggle to get to
the bottom of the mystery, the real culprit tries more magical tricks
to get past them... but who is he, and what is his motive?
As further attempts on the merchant's are made, suspicion falls on
the troupe of entertainers performing the play. Carnak avoids the
attention of a flirtatious transvestite, and a Fronelan illusionist
uses his mysterious skills to try and misdirect the heroes. With some
of the entertainers finally in custody, the Ruby Moon Seekers must find
the insane playwright behind the plot, and face the challenges of his
deadly familiar and terrible overacting in order to bring matters to a
resolution...
